Ray Ortlund, Jr. once preached a sermon at my church that touched a good bit on pain and suffering in a fallen world. Far from being depressing, it was actually a very encouraging sermon. It pointed us to God, who works all things for good for His children, and also to our certain hope of eternity with Him. These are the only lasting, sure comforts in this world, but they are real, and they are Rock-solid!
