Timothy George, dean of Beeson Divinity School at Samford University, has provided a helpful recap of the SBC after the conversative takeover in the 1990s: Southern Baptists after the Revolution.
George suggests that the suprising election of Frank Page was the result of an "odd coalition of diverse subgroups within the Southern Baptist Convention that came together in Greensboro to register their concerns":
1. Charismatics
2. Neo-Calvinists
3. Woman’s Missionary Union
4. Baptist Bloggers
5. Younger Moderates
It's an interesting read.
