I enjoyed Stephen Carter's first novel,
The Emperor of Ocean Park. The second in his planned mystery trilogy has now been published:
New England White. A few points of interest: Carter is a law professor at Yale; an evangelical; and a contributor to
Christianity Today. His previous work has all been non-fiction (the subjects of which can be seen from the titles of his books:
God's Name in Vain; The Culture of Disbelief; Civility; Integrity.)
This is only his second work of fiction, for which Knopf paid $4 million.
Naomi Schaeffer Riley writes in today's Wall Street Journal about Carter, whom she recently interviewed.
