Max McLean, narrator of the Listener's Bible, will be in Chicago next month for a series of performances of C. S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters. Lewis' classic is composed of a series of letters from a senior demon to his nephew. With diabolic insight, the elder demon instructs his charge concerning the best ways to fight the Enemy (i.e., Christ) and destroy the Christian. It is a thought-provoking work.
I've heard McLean in person twice, both at the Ligonier Pastors Conference. In 2004 he read through the book of Philippians, such a powerful performance that I listened to the entire ESV Listener's Bible over the next year. In 2005 McLean read about one-third of The Screwtape Letters, my initiation into the book. His reading moved me not only to read the book, but then to secure copies for everyone in Heritage's youth group.
If you're in the Chicago area, you will not be disappointed by a night with Max McLean. Invite your unbelieving friends and pray that God would open opportunities for you to talk with them afterwards about the Gospel. You can order tickets online.
