Jonah Goldberg writes: "Some science types can explain how a quark travels through 12 dimensional space, but are absolutely clueless about how to make toast." Well, what do you do if don't have a clue about quarks and you can't make toast?
Now that's not true in my case. Toast is easy. But one time, when attempting to make a surprise meal for my wife--during which time I had her sequestered in the bedroom awaiting the big unveiling--I had to poke my head in to ask her just one question.
"Honey, I'm having a problem burning the rice."
"Is the rice essential to the meal?"
"Well, it's chicken and rice."
"How much water are you adding?"
"You need to add water to cook rice?!?"
Sad, but true, story.
