I went to my local Mardel a couple of weeks ago when the article was first published only to find that "a local pastor had come in and bought the lot of them." I'm glad the article is finally online.

It definitely gives a positive glimpse into the young reformed movement and resonates with me personally.

It seems like the article implies that those who don't agree with Calvinism on certain points are less theologically deep or care less about doctrine.

I am a pastor of a church of approximately 250 people. The largest growing segment of the church over the past 12-15 months has been couples and singles in the 20-35 year range. They're coming for reformed theology and flourishing in thier faith under Calvinism!

A superb article on a most superb event and the theological tide that is swelling. I had the unique priviledge of meeting your friend, Pastor John after his message that Thursday night. I was just blown away all week long! I blogged on it shortly thereafter. see: http://p66.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_p66_archive.html

My thoughts on the article are that it gave a good recap on some of the speakers from the T4G conference.
But, that it is extremely narrow in its understanding of the reformed tradition as a whole. The surge in popularity of Calvinistic theology in the SBC, and among ministries like Sovereign Grace, and Desiring God only represent a very small portion of the pie, so to say. Those institutions and individuals that have really built the foundation for the popular trend we're now seeing weren't even mentioned, and the ones that were, were in a small footnote on the bottom of one of the inserts to the cover story article.

I praise God for the emphasis that these ministries and pastors are placing upon the sovereign nature of God and His grace, and the impact that they are making upon my generation. However, many (not all) of their followers who call themselves "Calvinists" have no clue to what Calvin and the other reformers really taught or believed outside of matters related to soteriology (salvation, TULIP, etc).

Looking at the 'Doctrines of Grace', Reformed Theology, or Calvinism as pertaining only to matters of salvation, and authors such as Piper, and those mentioned in the article shows a lack of depth. I pray that this would not be characteristic of this movement as it unfolds in the years to come.

I've also heard that Collin Hansen is a kick-butt softball player. Useless inside info at CT apparently makes me feel significant. Later!

It's funny how I think that I'm traveling this theological journey and I look up and about a million others are too... :)
