C. J. Mahaney leads Sovereign Grace Ministries. Here is his list of books that should have been most influential in evangelicalism in the last 50 years:
- The Cross of Christ, by John Stott
- Knowing God, by J. I. Packer
- The Holiness of God, by R.C. Sproul
- Fundamentalism and the Word of God, by J.I. Packer
- Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, edited by John Piper and Wayne Grudem
- The Cross and Christian Ministry, by D.A. Carson
- The Trilogy (The God Who Is There; Escape From Reason; He is There and He is Not Silent), by Francis Schaeffer
- Competent to Counsel, by Jay Adams and Instruments in the Redeemers Hands, by Paul Tripp
- Systematic Theology, by Wayne Grudem
- Showing the Spirit: A Theological Exposition of 1 Corinthians 12-14, by D. A. Carson, God’s Empowering Presence: The Holy Spirit in the Letters of Paul, by Gordon Fee

i like this list so much better than the other.
of course, mahaney is too humble to ever include any of his books either...but i always recommend Humility to others.
No shout out to Desiring God or Pleasures of God?
of course we all have our own preferences but i agree this list is far better than the christianity today list
I'm supprised no one mentioned 'Pilgrim's Progress' by John Bunyan, being the most sold book next to the Bible.
Debbie - it's books written in the last 50 years.
