You may not have heard of him, but pastor-theologian James Philip of Holyrood Abbey Church in Edinburgh went to be with the Lord on March 12. You can read obituaries here and here. It sounds as if he was a remarkable man, faithful to the Lord.
Brian Aucker of Covenant Seminary wrote to say, "He remains without peer among the pastor theologians whose ministries I have sat under. As a man of nearly 80 years he was brought to tears preaching the grace expressed in the great letter to the Romans. I will not forget it." Ligon Duncan, who sat under his preaching ministry for three years while studying at Edinburgh, writes that he was an "outstandingly faithful servant of the Word."
MP3s of two of his sermon series--on the Gospel of John and Romans--are available online for free.
