My five-year-old daughter the other day, instead of asking, "What on earth are you doing?" mixed around a few of the words and asked instead, "What are you doing on the earth?"
My three-year-old son, who does not like getting his face washed, was squirming the other night as the washcloth wiped away the crust around his nose and exclaimed, "Hey, what's the big idea?!"
As with all "guess what my kid just said" stories, it's funnier in person.
But it dawned on me today that their two question--What are you doing on the earth? and What's the big idea?--are actually two great questions to keep in mind throughout the day! I hope I'll teach them well that the answer to both questions starts with God.
