HT: The Man from Edinburgh
The Jonathan Edwards trilogy includes three of the most important sermons ever preached on American soil. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God is maybe the most important and well-known sermon of his, but also included is A Divine and Supernatural Light describing and illuminating what Edwards describes as a supernatural light imparted by God. His farewell sermon was given in June of 1750 and is a commendation to those who are in the Lord’s service, a plea to maintain unity, avoid dissension and false doctrine, and a call to devote themselves to prayer.

This website is great. A great travel companion while driving.
No doubt Sinners is Edwards most famous sermon, but do you really think it is one of his most important? I think it gets too much hype.
Just curious, what does the "HT" that you use for mentioning other blogs mean?
Awesome! Thanks Justin.
HT = "hat tip"
JT made me curious, too. So although I could pretty much guess what the meaning was, I looked it up on Wikipedia. Wikipedia says: "Hat Tip, to give credit or acknowledgement to a source."
Who is "The Man from Edinburgh?

Michael, you seem too honest :-) I think you're correct. It's the same way with Sproul's book on the Holiness of God, I think. While the SUBJECT of the holiness of God is of highest importance, I think R. C. Sproul has written better and more important books.
The bottom line is: There is ALOT of hype in Christianity today (particularly in certain theological circles), and you will get in trouble for pointing that out. Beware, Michael :-)
Incidentally, Dr. Glen Kreider has written an excellent article on Edwards called: Sinners in the Hands of a Gracious God.
Awesome, thanks for the info.
I love people discussing Edwards! As one of the people making the decision which sermons to include in our audio collection, I'd say that the choice of Sinner in the Hands of an Angry God was included because it has become such an important sermon. Moreover, it gets a bad rap because the title is known but the content is not. By including it, hopefully people will come to appreciate it outside of whatever bias they bring to it. Dave
