This blog sucks. Nothing new here in a whole day, and the heading to the last post is small and sucky, like it wasn't published by someone who is an editor.
JT has fallen asleep at the keyboard, and I feel ascared and alone in the world.
Guess I'll have to go hunt for the next important Al Mohler quote myself.
Gee I wonder who is leaving the rogue wild comments on people's blog...
Don't worry JT, I get my fair share.
:)
actually this blog is great. keep up the god work. though i must admit it was strange to go throughout the day without constant insightful updates from this blog. but, everybody needs days off...
I have posted the following reminiscence of that fine Christian gentleman at the BHT (http://www.boarsheadtavern.com/archives/2007/07/10/1753133.html).
Dr. Harold O.J. Brown has passed away. While he is best known for his pro-life advocacy I shall remember him as a good teacher who did his best to befriend his students. He taught me “Theology of the Holy Spirit” at Gordon-Conwell where he was a visiting professor in 1991 or ‘92. His teaching was nothing short of brilliant and his command of everything related to his topic simply breathtaking. What really made that class for me, though, were the walks that he and I would occasionally take around campus. We would converse in French, which he spoke flawlessly, and talk about the course material but also about life in general. He was facing a difficult personal challenge related to a close relative and, for some reason, thought that I might be able to advise him or at least lend a sympathetic ear as he worked through some of the issues out loud. I was rather stunned that this great Christian scholar and gentleman should take lowly me in his confidence and actually value any insight I might provide. It spoke volumes about his humility and about his awareness that, despite his encyclopaedic knowledge, he needed the ministry of other Christians. We only walked together like this a few times but these few times remain some of my most memorable times at seminary. It’s stuff like this and people like Dr. Brown that convince me that one can’t really get a seminary education online. It’s mostly about the people.
BTW - His book Heresies deserves a place on your shelves.
