Jerusalem Model

3 comments | Permalink
If you're never been able to see a model of the city of Jerusalem in the time of Jesus, this is a very helpful document, containing pictures of the large Jerusalem model at the Holyland Hotel in Jerusalem. The PDF was assembled by William Schniedewind, chair of the department of Near Eastern Languages & Cultures at UCLA.

I had the privilege of visiting this model in 2000 and it is quite amazing. In 2006, the model was relocated to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. You can find a brief description and photos at http://www.imj.org.il/model/

Justin - this is a terrific model, however the file you have linked to was not assembled by Schniedewind, but is part of the Pictorial Library of Bible Lands. Unfortunately no credit is given of the source, and its posting online in its entirety is probably a violation of copyright law.
