In the recent 9Marks Audio, Mark Dever talks with Darryl G. Hart about J. Gresham Machen, evangelicalism, and why Christians shouldn’t be afraid of secularism. During the interview, Dever also asked Hart some questions about John Williamson Nevin (Hart contributed the biography of Nevin in the American Reformed Biographies series). Hart says that Nevin's book The Anxious Bench one of the most important works written in American Protestantism (for his reasons why, see my explanation). If you are interested in more of Hart's arguments concerning secularism, you should check out his book A Secular Faith: Why Christianity Favors the Separation of Church and State. Dever suggested The Lost Soul of American Protestantism as a helpful resource as well. You can listen to the interview here.
