A correspondent recently asked if I had any comments on David Kuo's book, Tempting Faith: An Inside Story of Political Seduction (Mr. Kuo was Special Assistant to President George W. Bush and Deputy Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, and has written an unflattering, tell-all book about his experience.
I haven't read the book, so I can't offer any original comments. However, tonight I read an excellent review in Books & Culture, written by Amy E. Black, associate professor of politics and international relations at Wheaton College and co-author of Of Little Faith: The Politics of George W. Bush's Faith-Based Initiatives (Georgetown Univ. Press, 2004). More than just a review, it's also a helpful primary on what happened to the faith-based initiative.
