Hebrews 9-10

"This video is from the WorshipGod06 Conference Aug. 9-12, 2006. Ryan Ferguson is giving a memorized dramatic recitation of Hebrews 9 and 10 from the ESV Bible."

Update: Josh Etter wrote to tell me that Ferguson was at their church in July and recited the entire book of Hebrews (only audio is available).

That was awesome! Can we get him to do the entire Bible? I'd buy it.

It was like he was preaching, not reading the Bible.

Next time I get to read the scripture at worship, I'm reading it like THAT! :)

I go to church with Ryan. He has done the whole book at our church. We were basically shell shocked when it was done. Awesome.

Now that's inspired preaching!

And no troublemakers can complain about his interpretation of the passage.

...just maybe a theater critic...

Ditto Tim's comment "It was like he was preaching, not reading the Bible".

Very edifying, amazing how the poignancy of the passage is better realized with a dramatic recitation like this.

Indeed! The dramatized recitation does much to reinforce the observation by many that instead of a letter, Hebrews is a written sermon.

Ryan's recitation is truly moving, far better than my recitation of Hebrews when I memorized large portions during college days.

Ryan's recitation reinforces the great benefit of another practice that has unfortunately passed from our churches, namely, Bible reading, that is, reading large portions without added comment, just plain reading for edification of the whole congregation.

Hebrews is a sermon. I imagine this was its intended hearing, or at least something very similar.

Oh, absolutely!

What a wonderful, thrilling, worshipful presentation. All glory to our Lord Jesus Christ!

This is so good brother... thank you.

Question: how did you embed this video on your site? I couldn't find the code anywhere and would like to post in the days to come.

Any help would be most kind.

Steve,

In answer to your question on embedding in any webpage...

Click on the video (bottom right corner) to go the Google Video page for it. Then click the button "Email this video" and then the link "Embed HTML". You will then see the code to embed; then simply copy and paste (in to the backside code of your site). This works for any and all videos there, and is similar in YouTube (which has a handy "&rel=0" addition to the end of video embeds to not have an related or unrelated content show up on your site when the video is done playing, a good safeguard).

For anyone who has listened to Max McLean's reading of the ESV audio bible, there is no comparison. With all due respect to Mr. McLean, I think ESV should hire Mr. Ferguson to do a new audio version.
