If you want to hear more, you can check out Mars hill's latest podcasts on itunes. the series is the Rebel's guide to joy, and the latest podcast is about humility - really good stuff there.
in it, Mark brings up some points from that book, namely that pride is the mother of all sins, and that humility is the mother of all joy. Pride is the quickest way to tear down a church, while humility is the only sure way to build it.
I agree with this.
All it took in our congregation was one very proud and rude person to tear down our communities and to promote an air of sarcasm, superiority and prejudice that spread like cancer among our fellowships.
But it's very difficult to call out pride in our church because just about EVERYONE is striving to be Kings and Queens of this world, in the same manner of the world, through the path of pride.
Humility died a long time ago in our culture's pursuit of happiness.
In a September 30 sermon, Driscoll lashed out. "There are a few guys right now, if I wasn't going to end up on CNN, I would go Old Testament on 'em," he said sternly. "There's no, like, attorneys and blogging, just like, 'I punched you in the mouth. Now shut up.' That's clean; it's simple."

How excellent to watch humility expounded one moment and then humility demonstrated the next. How else should humility be expounded?
Beautiful words of wisdom from Rev. Driscoll (/Mahaney).
Thanks for sharing JT.
Peace,

Wow. That was excellent...in a heart-convicting kind of way! (Thanks to Mahaney, Driscoll and Taylor for sharing this.)

From the Truth is Stranger than Fiction file:
A month ago, Driscoll brazenly talked about beating up and firing leaders in his church: http://www.marshillchurch.org/audio/070930_Nehemiah22.mp3">http://www.marshillchurch.org/audio/070930_Nehemiah22.mp3
