I know different things work for different person, but I've found Devers method of reading and re-reading the text (over and over) and then asking questions the most rewarding way to study the bible. I've taken a couple of smaller books of the bible at one time or the other, and just read them through 20 times or so. I really felt that I had an organic grasp of the books message when I was done, and it had a deep impact on my walk with Chirst as well. For example, after reading through Ephesians 20 times, I realized how little I loved Christ's Church, and what a beautiful thing the Church is, warts and all, in the light of Christ's awesome puprose for the Chruch.
