Folks are compiling their lists. Here are a few I've come across:
- Andreas Kostenberger
- Josh Gellat
- Tullian Tchividjian (though these are the best books Tullian read in 2007)

two most useful books that I have obtained this past year were both Bibles, and both from Crossway:
1) ESV Literary Study Bible
2) ESV Reverse Interlinear
In addition, "The Valley of Vision" added most to my devotional life.
JT will you continue to update us with these lists as you come across them? They are very useful.
Justin,
Have you heard of the document released by Muslims leaders to Christian leaders to come together on common ground {"A Common Word Between Us and You"}?
300+ Christian leaders have responded and signed on, including some very conservative. You can read the Muslim letter at
www.acommonword.com
and read the Christian response at

I've blogged on it and would love your thoughts!

Bro,
You need to post your list... well, I guess in your case it would the best first or second chapters of books that I have read in 2007.
I am funny.

Jerry,
Had I been doing "Book of the Year" awards last year the ESV Reverse Interlinear would have certainly been a top contender. I use mine several times each day, and it has become my MAIN study bible. Actually, I won a contest over on Tony Reinke's blog. He made a "Jonathan Edwards" Bible--taking the ESV Interlinear and inserting blank pages between. I had those bound (now four volumes, due to additional thickness), and these serve as my permanent, life-long record of study, sermon outlines, exegetical comments, historical notes---whatever I wish to add. It is amazing, and works much better than any "wide-margin" bible on the market.
My favorite book of 2007 is John Ensor's "The Great Work of the Gospel" - an excellent exploration of the gospel and its practical implications for all of life.
my list....

Here's my list:
1. The Future of Justification by Piper
2. The Living Church by Stott
Frankly speakin, I'm disappointed with the ESV.
ESV has not moved to far from the style of the RSV.
I have a great deal of respect for those involved in the translation, but when they continue to correct the very project they were involved in, I have to wonder.
Dr. Bill Mounce still continue to find himself correctly the ESV.
